  • Greg Osby
Greg Osby’s site is mostly designed for the purpose of advertising. Informational resources at his site are limited but it’s worth checking out his MP3s and tour dates.
  • M-Base
This is Steve Coleman’s web site. Steve is doing some truly creative work in the field of a global approach to developing music. There are a number of free MP3s and links to some of Steve’s papers on harmony.
  • Vijay Iyer
Another extremely creative musician, Vijay recently released an album Panoptic Modes that is very inspiring. Vijay’s site has some freely downloadable MP3s that are worth checking out. Also the link to his Academics site is thoroughly worth checking out
  • Jason Moran
Jason Moran’s web site has freely downloadable MP3s as well as tour dates. Another artist very worth checking out.
  • Poovalur Srinivasan
Poovalur Srinivasan is an accomplished South Indian classical percussionist. Under his articles page you will find a paper he has written entitled “Mridangam” that discusses the instrument in mythology and history.
  • Mamady Keita
This is a link to Mamady Keita Djembe Rhythm Traditional Mandingue page. Quote from the page “The djembe is not reserved only for tradition. It is a popular instrument that can harmonize with all other instruments. It is open to all. There are performances and then there is the tradition. One must not confuse them. They are completely different.” It also discusses his view on the relationship between an instrument and the tradition it emerges from. Some of the views seem to contradict the quote here and may not stand up to experience but, the concepts are worth thoroughly thinking about.There are links to other educational material related to the traditions that are also worth exploring from there.
